Stop Working In Your Real Estate Business and Delegate
Do you realize that time is an investment, and are you investing it in developing your brand and personal assets?
When we rush about trying to accomplish everything since we believe it will give us control, we miss out on many chances to develop.
I understand how you feel. It’s hard letting go! When you are swamped every day (real estate in a sentence!), it seems easier to do things yourself than take a step back and have someone else do it. At least this way, you know it’s getting done.
But, when handling your days like this, something always suffers.
This problem has occurred too many times to count. You may prefer performing tasks in a specific manner. You don't have time, you're too busy, or you can't imagine finding the time to teach someone properly. The list may continue. Above all, delegating is difficult. It requires a level of relinquishing that might be quite daunting!
But, the driving factors behind those reasons are counterproductive to personal and professional growth. Fear and indecision are understandable, but it's not a good place to grow and not a great way to lead.
Delegation is one of the most distinctive characteristics of a true leader. Apart from all the attention, you help and empower others to achieve their goals. You replace negative energy with strong action that elevates your company and brand. It's invigorating and freeing.
Delegation is essential to your success as an entrepreneur. It allows you more time to develop, spend quality time with family and friends, and focus on the things that truly require your full attention. In the end, you have more control rather than giving it up! You're making wise investments right now.
I've compiled a list of pointers to help you delegate responsibly and intelligently.
Identify Where Your Focus Is Best Spent
You alone know your strengths. Take the time to analyze where you need to spend more time. Generally, you need to be focused on income-generating activities. You also need time to plan and strategize your business growth.
This leaves a plethora of administrative and coordination tasks that can be delegated.
Define Specific Tasks That Can Be Delegated
Delegate carefully by defining how it connects to your company's goals and vision. This will assist you in determining the required outcome of tasks. The individual assuming control must have complete confidence in what is needed and why it is required.
Your aim isn't to just drop anything in their lap at any time. Make sure the tasks are appropriate for your employee's skill level. Determine if any training is required and, if so, whether you have the resources to provide it.
Be Involved and Engaged in a Supportive Manner
You must make sure everyone on the team understands the requirements and outcomes. Be accessible to communicate, train, and inspire your team. You'll need to go over activities and be available to offer advice and correction if required at first.
Avoid taking over, completing it yourself, or changing the goal post. These are all very demotivating and will take you right back to the negative space where you are doing things yourself.
Incorporate Automation and Collaboration
In the current real estate market, agents can't afford to lag with technology. Don't be scared to automate some processes. It saves time and shortens the list of things to be delegated!
Asana and Slack are fantastic for keeping everyone up to date.
These are easier to accomplish than you'd believe. If you're searching for a method to incorporate both automation and group collaboration into your operation, join my Group Systems Rehab, where I'll teach you how to do it like a boss!
