How to Craft Your Perfect Real Estate Schedule
What's on your plate? A lot?
That's to be expected because your work is intensive and stressful. However, if you aren't careful, important activities could be overlooked, such as missing meetings with prospects or forgetting a huge networking event.
If you worry about what to do in your business daily, that's a strong indicator that a proper schedule is lacking.
Are you tired of playing the guessing game or simply winging it? Now is the time to get intentional and craft a schedule that's perfect for your real estate business and leverage your time.
Establish a Morning Ritual
A well-thought-out morning ritual fuels you to slay the day. It's personal time to consider the things you love and pour into yourself.
Real estate is challenging work, and if you aren't motivating yourself to get out there, scrolling through Facebook and Instagram is an easy habit to slip into.
Having a morning ritual to start your day off on the right foot will potentially assist you in avoiding activities that drain your energy.
Here are some things you may want to add to your morning ritual:
Time for spiritual reflection
Great for religious persons who want to get closer to their Creator. This is quality time to pray, read a portion of the Bible, and meditate.
Personal development reading
Do you have an area you'd like to improve in that isn't necessarily 'business-related' but could later impact your effectiveness as a real estate agent? There are plenty of self-improvement books on the shelf. Highlight your pain point and choose a book to help you solve the problem.
Affirmations
"I'm a real estate boss, born to be great." This is a simple yet profound affirmation that you can reiterate each morning to strengthen your resolve. You can easily create your own by looking at areas in your life where improvements are needed.
Exercise
Regular exercise has given me physical strength and mental clarity. I am confident that it will do the same for you. It will also assist you in staying healthy.
2. Choose the Right Activities
What are those activities that move your business forward? What tasks bring in the moolah or provide exposure for your business?
Take stock of these tasks and write them down. I've had significant success using the Full Focus Planner, as it's easy to work with and keep my notes in a single location.
Some essential tasks you might want to keep in mind include:
Following up with prospects and leads
Getting on the phone with clients
Attending buyer and seller webinars
Go live on social media to interact with and engage your audience.
Ensure to be clear on the activities you need to do. An option is to list what you need to do daily, weekly, monthly, and even quarterly! Once you've identified your activities, you can easily weave them into the following essential step I'm about to share.
3. Block Your Time
Are you blocking your time? No? Yes? Sometimes?
You may be stifling the development of your business if you aren't blocking your time.
Not everyone should have access to you, and if you make yourself available, it should be to those that drive the needle in your business and your bank account.
The process of time blocking is simple. It's a time management technique that allows you to schedule the activities you need to get done daily.
Setting up a calendar is a must for time blocking. Forget about pinning a physical calendar and using it to plan your day if you're considering it!
Digital is the way to go, as you can access your calendar from the comfort of your smartphone and even receive reminders of upcoming events and tasks.
Google Calendar is a must-have for me. If a task isn't on my calendar, it's a good chance it will be lost (it won't get done!).
Start using a functional calendar that integrates with other online tools you might use in your business.
Don't know how to set up a calendar that works? No worries!
My job is to help real estate agents like you who want to streamline their businesses. I put all the sexy systems you need to ensure you never miss an activity or new business opportunity.
Are you ready to create a system that's a breeze to work with?
Everything is outlined in my Systems Rehab Group Program. You get all the tools, templates, and support you need to save time and scale your business.
4. Put the Important Stuff First
It's natural to tackle tasks that are 'least-resistance.' These are usually simple, unimportant tasks that are easy to get done.
If you start sweating the wrong, small stuff, you'll use valuable energy.
But, unfortunately, you also lose the motivation and momentum to get those important things done. Finish essential tasks first.
Block your calendar early in the day to ensure they get done and don't fall through the cracks.
5. Schedule Breaks
Some real estate agents mistake being busy for productivity. As a result, they might be on the go and even neglect quality time to unwind and rest.
When you schedule breaks, however small or big, you allow yourself time to recuperate and take things easy for a moment.
This isn't only good for your overall wellbeing, but I find that it's an energizing process.
Scheduling breaks on my calendar have allowed me to find brief refreshment in simply being and not doing.
6. Automate Things
I want to take you back to an uncomfortable memory (a very uncomfortable one, might I add).
Think about the last time a prospect tried booking an appointment with you, and you had to go back and forth to decide on an 'ideal' time.
What a headache and a waste of time that likely was! So many real estate agents have this very issue to contend with today.
You want to onboard new clients, but you don't want to go back and forth via email trying to schedule a time that fits both schedules.
Automating how you do things is a big game-changer and timesaver! For example, setting up an online appointment system where people can book time with you without your involvement saves time and money.
Using an appointment tool that automatically syncs with your calendar is even better.
Do you remember that Systems Rehab Group program I mentioned? I will talk about this in detail and help you set up your systems without the hassle.
7. Work Like a Boss
Once you have your activities defined, things scheduled on your calendar, and an appointment system in sync, you're ready to work as your boss.
Ensure to follow through with the activities on your calendar. Stay motivated and show up to do the work, even on days you don't feel like it.
8. Top Things Off with an Evening Ritual
What's a morning ritual without an evening one?
It's best to end the day on a positive note. So this is the time to sit and reflect on what happened throughout the day.
You may also consider journaling or adding entries to a gratitude journal. Whatever ritual you embrace, ensure you schedule the tasks you need to get done on the following day.
That way, you go to bed with a clear mind on what you need to get done the next day.
Crafting the perfect real estate schedule isn't difficult. However, it does require that you take an honest evaluation of your business and even ask for help if necessary. If you'd like an outsider who's a maven at setting up systems to audit your business, consider booking a free call with me.
I look forward to speaking with you.
